Tokyo: The mobile phone is to be informed at all times for safety and to protect the safety of the water is also an important aspect of the phone.

 

Some phones are waterproof, but it is immensely expensive. Japanese company Sony to simplify the problem, which is introducing a new phone is not only waterproof but will also be cheaper. This phone called M2 Aqua will be introduced in the autumn of this year. It is about five feet deep and full of water will be safe and not be in the dust and sand.

The screen size of 4.8-inch, 8-megapixel camera and an additional front camera pygsl will also be available. 8GB internal memory when it is possible to increase. NFC technology that will not only elegant but also has 4G technology. The company claims that the smartphone will be waterproof and cheapest price and launch date announcement is expected soon.

The sony-D5503 is also known as sony xperia Z1S
 it has a 4.3" 720p screen instead of 5" 1080p, but keeps the Snapdragon 800 chipset and 20MP camera of the big Z1.

Sony Xperia Z1 is offered with a free QX10 lens in UK

Potential buyers of the freshly announced Sony Xperia Z1 in the UK will surely find this deal difficult to resist. Sony's Android smartphone flagship is offered for pre-order with a free QX10 lens by the British retailer Carphone Warehouse.

The combo is available for both new and upgrade customers. It is offered on a variety of plans by all major UK carriers. Along with the free camera lens, users will also get £65 worth of content which includes top five movies, exclusive movie access pass, and two months of free music streaming.

Sony updates Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, improves performance

A month back on June 24, Xperia Z was officially update to  Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean 10.3.A.0.423 firmware and some days back we saw another Jelly Bean 10.3.1.A.0.236  firmware OTA update being rolled on Xperia Z but only on developer handsets, which was a lot curious why such a firmware was rolled and users reporting it were very few.


But now, in INDIA region, we have just spotted another 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware on our Xperia Z C6602 HSPA+ version via PC Companion as well as via SUS. No such update is seen listed on PTCRB site also. Update also confirmed on Xperia Z C6603 LTE version now.
10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware update confirmed in India, Sweden, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Poland till now. Same 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware update is also confirmed on Xperia ZL C6503.

We can confirm that 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware update for Xperia Z C6602 is just a patch update of Android 4.2.2  Sony must have patched the perf_event exploit. So Root from previous 10.3.A.0.423 firmware will now be lost sadly.

XDA Developer DooMLoRD has just tweeted that all Xperia Z / ZL users who have rooted handset, shouldn’t flash this 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware ftf file directly. They should use OTA ROOT KEEPER, otherwise root will be lost in this new firmware. 

How to keep Root in Xperia Z, ZL Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware update ?
If you are updating your Xperia Z, ZL directly via Flashtool, everything in (the /system partition) gets formatted completely, so you loose root :/ So update it over OTA to keep root.

Root Access will be lost, if flashing via FlashTool.

Use OTA RootKeeper, if you want to have root access remain to your phone. If you are updating your Xperia Z, ZL by “Update Center” app, then using OTA RootKeeper, you can save your root access.

Sony i1 “Honami” and Xperia Z comparison

On Monday we managed to get our hands on some exclusive pictures of the Sony Xperia i1 ‘Honami‘ Android-running smartphone and they were some very revealing shots which showed just what the incoming handset will look like. Well today we have got a few more snaps for you as we take a look at the camera interface to the handset.
As the images show, Sony will be keeping much of the design aspects of the Xperia Z in the new handset with the two devices sharing the large glass screen with straight-edged design. The handsets stack up pretty similar to each other in size but the Honami is slightly longer than its sibling handset.

The shots also reveal some info on the much talked about 20 megapixel camera and the interface it uses. Still we haven’t been able to confirm if the camera is the rumoured 20 megapixel beast but the interface of the i1 does show some big changes.
First up is the picture mode selection screen which has features such as Superior Auto and Manual, which have featured on other Sony models. Timeshift burst is also detailed in an images, which looks like a feature which will be taking on BlackBerry’s TimeShift feature from BlackBerry 10.
 
Picture effect adds a host of filters and effects to an image and can be seen in an inventive selection screen.
But the most interesting of the features looks to be the AR Effect feature, which by the look of the images seems to superimpose an Augmented Reality situation onto your images – in this case a brilliant looking dinosaur-filled pre-historic landscape is overlaid on the viewfinder.

Other modes detailed but not captured include Social Live, which we’re told allows you to “Broadcast live video to Facebook”, Info-Eye which is apparently a Nokia LiveSight type of feature where you can use you camera and to see more information about your surroundings, and finally Sweep Panorama mode which is fairly self explanatory.

Sony Unviels Android 4.3 update List

So, Sony’s Jelly Bean 4.2 upgrade for Xperia Z and Xperia ZL is well underway* – next up, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will start receiving 4.2 from early August.
Yesterday you probably saw Google announce the next version of Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) – we’re already getting stuck in and can confirm we’ll make 4.3 available for: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP and Xperia Z Ultra…
We’re also looking at uplifting some of our other devices running 4.1 direct to 4.3 – we’ll share more info / deets / timings when we can, so be sure to follow @SonyMobileNews for all the latest.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra gets caught in the wild, UI is unchanged

The soon-to-be-announced Sony Xperia ZU (standing for Z Ultra) has appeared in a photo taken in the wild. That's not the first time we take a glimpse of Sony's first phablet, but it's the first time we see its 6.44-inch display turned on.
Just like the Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra will have a Nexus-like trio of on-screen buttons at the bottom of its full HD display. The purported photo of the smartphone above might very well be fabricated, but it looks pretty convincing to us.
We've already seen Sony's hint of the Xperia Z Ultra (codenamed Togari) in the official press invitation, confirming the device will feature a really thin profile, but we don't yet know how the sheer size of the smartphone will affect its weight.
Regardless, the photo voids a rumor from yesterday, which suggested Sony is going to make some changes to the way its custom UI looked with Android 4.2. Seeing from the photo above, that couldn't be further from the truth, as the Xperia Z Ultra seems to look in line with previous versions of the UI.

Sony Xperia A to debut on NTT DoCoMo on May 15

Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo is preparing to hold its latest product announcement on May 15 and one of the smartphones believed to be on display is the Sony Xperia A. In fact, it has gone through the FCC for approval and has had some of its specs leaked.

The handset pans out to be yet another high-end addition to Sony's 2013 line-up and takes similar features from the Xperia Z. One of them is the 5" display packing 1080p resolution. The Xperia A sports Sony's OmniBalance design and many will be happy to know that the 2300mAh battery is removable.

The power button on the right side is reminiscent of the Xperia Z's, as is the 13MP snapper at the back. The NTT DoCoMo bound smartphone is LTE enabled and features 16GB of built-in storage, but we are yet to known if it's expandable.

The Sony Xperia A in the flesh
Actually, one of the main features of the Xperia A still remains unknown and that's its CPU. The smartphone is likely to pack Xperia Z's S4 Pro chip. Happily, we won't have to wait much longer to find out, as NTT DoCoMo's summer lineup will be showcased on May 15. We'll have more details then.

Sony Mobile may be planning to launch a 5-inch entry-level handset during the third quarter utilising the MediaTek quad-core MT6589 system-on-chip. This news follows previous rumours that Sony will launch new handsets using MediaTek chips. Digitimes is reporting that ODM Arima will manufacture the handset.
Arima has also been contracted to manufacture Sony’s current budget offering, the Xperia E (C160X). Sony has also signed up other ODMs such as Compal Communications who is manufacturing the upcoming Xperia L (C210X). Digitimes says that Arima, Compal and Foxconn combined plan to ship around 8 to 10 million smartphones to Sony during this year.

Sony Xperia Z Announces an update, fixes sudden-death issue

We have come across numerous reports on forums that people’s Xperia Z handsets are suddenly dying. From what we can gather, the phone is working fine and then suddenly dies, with users unable to switch it on. A hard restart (power button + volume up) has worked for some people but not for others.
There doesn’t appear to be a particular pattern of why this is happening. Some say it is related to low battery status, but it has even happened to users who have plenty of charge left. Sony Mobile says it is aware of the problem and that a “fix for this will be implemented in next software update”. Have you had this problem with your Xperia Z? Let us know in the comments below

Sony Xperia J unexpectedly gets Jelly Bean update

The Sony Xperia J is getting updated to Android 4.1.2. This has not been officially announced by Sony, but users of the device have reported receiving the update OTA. If you haven't, check manually for a software update or you can hook up to Sony Companion using your PC and handset. Normally the announcement of a software update doesn't shock us so much that we could be knocked over by a feather. But one look at the specs of the Sony Xperia J and you will understand.

There is nothing in the screen size, at 4 inches, that is unusual here. The 480 x 854 resolution provides a pixel density of 245ppi. But we are dealing with a phone that has just a single-core 1GHz processor with just 512MB of RAM. Heck, there are phones with those specs that can't even get updated from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich (Hey Motorola, remember the Motorola DROID 3?) and here we are talking about Jelly Bean!

The update for the Sony Xperia J weighs in at 392MB which means that it will use some time to install. Make sure your battery is charged to at least 50% and that you have a strong Wi-Fi signal. And be prepared for the wonders of Android 4.1.2 like Project Butter, Google Now and the enhanced notifications page. It should feel like a brand new phone afterward.

Sony Announces 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update For Xperia TL and AT&T

Reports seem to be popping up at XDA and AT&T’s community Forums, about an incoming update for the Sony Xperia TL. The update is moving the TL to Jelly Bean 4.1.2. It doesn’t seem to be coming through as an OTA though, at least not yet anyways, rather it being prompted for installations through the PC Companion. Talks of a much faster experience, some camera tweaks with a HDR setting and probably plenty of other hidden little goodies are inside. AT&T’s site doesn’t offer up any news on there being an update available. As you can see int he screen shot below. They probably just haven’t gotten around to updating their information. Sony has made the announcement on their site about it being out since yesterday.
However there is confirmation that Jelly Bean is available through two posts in their community forums. Right alongside having to do factory resets after updating to make things work again. It is worth mentioning here that the Xperia Z is a water and dust proof smartphone unlike other three phones in the comparison table. Other than these features shown above, all of the smartphones possess exclusive features which are, in several cases, a first for the industry. HTC One manages to perform well even in this crowd too but I don’t think its that great when compared to the Xperia Z which is arguably the best phone available right now.

Except, well, you can’t see the console.

As expected, Sony tonight announced the PlayStation 4, the newest videogame console from the Japanese electronics maker.
However, no console was shown during the two-hour event. Sony instead appealed to its hard-core gaming audience with a string of new game titles.
We know the new PlayStation 4 includes an x86, 8-core AMD “Jaguar” CPU, an enhanced PC graphics processor and a secondary custom chip for background processing of digital titles. It comes with 8 gigabytes of internal memory. And its controller is a DualShock 4 controller with a touchpad and “3-D” camera-tracking.
Sony said the console has been in development for the past five years. But, aside from teasing that the console would be available in the 2013 holiday season, no additional details on price or availability were given.
There are some interesting new features to the PS4 system. It will offer the ability to “trim” portions of the game and share clips of the games with friends over social networks, in addition to sharing over the PlayStation network. And Sony, perhaps looking to revitalize its not-exactly-best-selling PS Vita, also showed how PS4 games can be played remotely on the handheld mobile device.
As expected, cloud gaming is also a part of the PS4 announcement: Gaikai co-founder and CEO Dave Perry appeared on stage to discuss how Gaikai, which Sony acquired last year, is being integrated to make game titles readily available in the cloud. Gamers will be allowed to try some titles before they buy.
The company kicked off the event stating that it marked a bold step forward for Sony as a company. “The living room is no longer the focal point of the PlayStation ecosystem,” said Sony’s president and CEO of Sony Computer entertainment Andrew House.
Despite that, Sony spent a good portion of its event on Tuesday showing off game trailers for exclusive console titles like Knack, Killzone Shadow Fall and Drive Club, showing more attention toward its hard-core gaming audience than video-streaming consumers or mobile game adopters. Executives from Capcom, Square Enix and Ubisoft also appeared on stage touting new game titles.
And Bungie, the game developer behind the popular Halo franchise, showed a new first-person shooter game called Destiny that will be available for PS4 and PS3.
The new PlayStation 4 console comes at a particularly perilous time for the traditional videogame industry. Gaming software sales, especially, have suffered due to the rise of cheap or free Web-based games, while Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have allowed several-year gaps in between new consoles, causing some to question the relevance of the console.
Sony to date has sold more than 70 million PlayStation 3 units worldwide, and claims more than 110 million members in its PlayStation Network. But about two years ago, the company suffered a setback when roughly 77 million user accounts were hacked, causing the company to temporarily shut down the network. Sony later said the hack cost the company $171 million that fiscal year.
In January the NPD Group, a research firm that tracks videogame hardware and software but not digital sales, reported that the Microsoft Xbox 360 had outsold the other home consoles for the 25th month in a row. But that was a mere silver lining: Software and hardware sales overall were still down 13 and 17 percent, respectively, when adjusted for a four-week month.
Microsoft is also widely expected to roll out its own new console, possibly named the Microsoft Xbox 720, this year.
Let’s hope Microsoft shows off the actual console at its event.

Sony Xperia C680X test scores hint at 1080p screen, 4.2 Jelly Bean

Sony unveiled its first two flagship Androids for the year early on at CES – the C660X Xperia Z and C650X Xperia ZL – but there seems to be another high-ender on the way, the Sony C680X.
The model name cropped up at html5test.com, a website that benchmarks a browser’s compatibility with the HTML5 standards. The browser was running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean device with a 1080p screen. Unfortunately, we don’t know how big that screen was.


We checked the other usual sources (Picasa, GLBenchmark, NenaMark, Indonesia’s Postel) for more info on the device but there’s nothing yet.
Considering that the difference between the C650X Xperia ZL and C660X Xperia Z is mostly in the external shell (different dimensions and waterproofing), how much different can the C680X Xperia be? And will there be a C670X?
We might find out at the MWC, but seeing how late the first leak about the C680X is, we don’t think it’s particularly likely. The C210X Xperia L and C530X Xperia SP are more likely candidates to be at Sony’s booth at the show.

Sony Xperia Z LTE version’s system dump surfaces, ringtones and wallpapers extracted

Sony Xperia Z’s system dumps were inevitable to appear once the smartphone went on sale, but it actually surfaced ahead of the wide availability of the handset. A system image of the LTE version of the Xperia Z, has been made available for download courtesy of hush66 from XDA developers.

According to the author the image is from the C6603 version of the smartphone, running on Android 4.1.2 and having a build number 10.1.A.1.350.
The entire system dump file is available over here and those into cooking custom ROMs might find it worth leaks. Meanwhile, regular users might be more interested to also find out that the same user already successfully extracted the ringtones, notifications, alarm tones and wallpapers from the Xperia Z.
