HTC announced One Max with Fingerprint Sensor Feature

After numerous leaks over the past couple of month, HTC One Max was the phone that everyone was looking forward to.
HTC finally has unveiled its HTC One Max phone, and guess what? There is a Fingerprint Sensor too – a trend started by Motorola by introducing it in its Atrix phone, which has recently embraced by Apple in its Iphone 5S.
Beside the fingerprint sensor, the One Max is notably the same thing the techies were anticipating, including first true “phablet” features, a humongous 5.9-inch high definition screen.
The device also has 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor (same as in the One), 2GB of RAM, and it runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Sense UI on top.
The One Max is radically a large version of the HTC One, released earlier this year, but few gripping changes have been made. Firstly, the back cover of One Max is removable, and as aforementioned, there’s a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone that lets the user unlock the phone.
Besides unlocking, Fingerprint sensor could also be used to access various applications by assigning unique Finger for each of the App. Miserably, there doesn’t seem to be any functionality to enter your fingerprint as a password like you do in the iPhone 5s.
The phone is also running HTC’s new Sense 5.5 software. Sense 5.5 allows you to further customize HTC’s BlinkFeed menu and offers integration with services like Instagram and Google+.
The removable back cover will let you insert a microSD card for up to 64GB. However, You can’t remove the 3,300mAh battery, although HTC is offering an additional Power Flip case with a built-in 1150mAh battery.
One implied deadfall on HTC’s One Max is its weight. The One Max peaks the scales at a staggering 217 grams. Yes, you get a very big screen, but Samsung has already showed that it can create a 5.7-inch phone at 168 grams, which in my view is a lot more portable.
Other than that, this phone is pretty much the same thing as HTC One, with the same UltraPixel rear camera and BoomSound front-facing speakers.
The new device will compete against the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 3, LG G2 and the upcoming Nokia phablet.

HTC One will get Android 4.3 in end of September

Can Robert Downey Jr. save HTC?

HTC has broken its bad streak with the HTC One and are looking to continue improving by stepping up marketing. How? By hiring Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., to promote HTC’s phones.

Bloomberg reports that RDJ won’t be playing any of his famous characters, he will be himself, which is just as awesome (though admittedly Iron Man and the metal-clad HTC One would have gone well together).
He will be promoting smartphones from HTC for two years to the tune of $12 million. It’s a bold move from HTC, which reportedly has only a tenth of the marketing budget that chief rival Samsung has to work with.
Even though HTC and Robert Downey Jr.’s agency have yet to confirm the deal, we can’t wait for the first ads to hit.

HTC Desire Q officially Announces, available in Taiwan for $234

HTC recently launched its Desire P mid-range smartphone and now the Taiwanese company has officially unveiled the other part of the duo that leaked last month. The Desire Q is an entry level smartphone with specifications similar to those of the HTC Desire U.

The latest HTC smartphone sports a 4" WVGA display, measures 118.5 x 62.3 x 9.3 mm and weighs 114 grams. The Desire Q is powered a 1 GHz single core processor along with 512 MB of RAM, 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Beats Audio and a wide range of connectivity options.
HTC Desire Q runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and relies on a 1,650mAH battery to provide the juice. The smartphone is currently available in Taiwan and is priced at NT$6,990 (about $234). Unfortunately, there is no word on the global availability of the device so the HTC Desire Q might remain exclusive to the company's home market.

More HTC First images emerge, reveal its Facebook Home UI

Less than 24 hours before its scheduled unveiling, a number of HTC First photos made an appearance. Unlike yesterday's image however, today's images reveal the Facebook device's Facebook Home UI of its Android OS.

The photos of the device reveal a minimalist UI with full-screen imagery, and stock Android icons. The app drawer on the other hand, reveals buttons for instant access to Facebook status updates, photo uploads, and location check-ins.

HTC One might get delayed due to component Shortage

HTC One was announced just prior to the Mobile World Conference 2013. The Smartphone was being anticipated as the greatest hit of HTC but looks like that might not happen. HTC One is set to be delayed in several Parts of the World due to Component shortage.

The News has reached the market after HTC Delayed the release of the Smartphone in Singapore by almost a month.



HTC might ship only 800,000 to 1,200,000 One smartphones in the coming month. This is mainly  because of the shortage of two components - the voice coil motor and the camera module.

If the HTC One gets delayed, this will be another unfortunate event in the history of HTC who has made some quality devices but they havent been able to capture the market. HTC One will surely suffer like the LG Nexus 4 of Google which has been sold out within days of its availability.

The good news is that US will not be suffering due to this shortfall as HTC has already made it clear that US is its main market. Rest of the countries might get the device as late as June.

HTC sales continue to plummet in February

It seems that poor HTC just can't catch a break. The company released the first 1080p smartphone in the US with the DROID DNA, followed by the first global 1080p smartphone - the HTC Butterfly and yet its sales have failed to pick up.
Previously the company identified its poor marketing efforts as the cause for the unconvincing performance and promised to do something about it. The first attempt it made was to hold a dedicated event for its new One flagship, instead of introducing it at the MWC floor, so the smartphone has more time in the spotlight.
We'll see if this strategy works and exactly how much of an impact the One will make, but the fact is last March HTC stock was trading at over NT$600, and now it sits at just NT$255.50, a 57% decline.
The trend will probably continue now as HTC confirmed that its sales for February 2013 drop 44% compared to the same period of last year. In the past month HTC brought in NT$11 billion ($384 million), compared to over NT$20 million ($685 million) for the February 2012.

Here's hoping that HTC manages to right the ship, as it's a shame to see a company that otherwise makes such quality products suffer because of poor marketing decisions.

HTC Tiara gets tipped with Windows Phone 8 GDR2

According to a fresh leak, HTC plans to expand its Windows Phone 8 lineup with a new handset, which is bound to sit between the Windows Phone 8X and the Windows Phone 8S when it comes into being. Dubbed internally as HTC Tiara, the smartphone will be one of the first to the market with Windows Phone 8 GDR2 - the second major overhaul of the OS after the recent "Portico" update.

A quick look at the leaked specs of the HTC Tiara suggests that the smartphone is a rather close relative to the HTC One SV, save for the camera resolution. It features a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU and a 4.3" Super LCD screen with WVGA resolution. There's a gig of RAM and 8GB of built-in memory. An 8MP camera, 1.6MP front-facing unit, and 1,800 mAh battery are also on the spec sheet.
The HTC Tiara is tipped for a release in mid-May. Currently, the Taiwanese manufacturer is working hard to promote the HTC One Android flagship.

It is worth mentioning here that the Xperia Z is a water and dust proof smartphone unlike other three phones in the comparison table. Other than these features shown above, all of the smartphones possess exclusive features which are, in several cases, a first for the industry. HTC One manages to perform well even in this crowd too but I don’t think its that great when compared to the Xperia Z which is arguably the best phone available right now.

HTC One goes official with 4.7" 1080p screen, quad-core CPU

The press image of the HTC One, which was previously known as HTC M7 was leaked in silver color variant earlier and now, a photo of the smartphone in black showed up.The latest press image comes from evleaks and considering their past record, it's probably the real deal.
The black variant seems to be the American press shot, as the silver version had earlier displayed London as the city. According to few rumors, the latest flagship device from HTC will be up for grabs starting from March 22 and the smartphone will be priced at $300 for 64 GB variant and $200 for the 32 GB model in the US. Naturally, those prices only come if you are willing to sign a two-year contract.
The rumored HTC One is expected to be launched at the upcoming press events, which will be held simultaneously in New York and London on February 19. Watch this space, as we will be covering the announcement live for you.

HTC Butterfly lands in our office, check it out before the review ninjas take it away

The HTC device which made a big name for itself by being the first with a 5″ 1080p screen from a major manufacturer has finally arrived in our office.


We were able to snap a few pictures and even get a quick video of the device in action before sending it off to reviewland, so join us for our first impressions of the HTC flagship and its FullHD screen.
The Butterfly continues the design principle set forth by previous HTC flagships, by making the surrounding edges even more flush with the screen, and removing the camera lens bump almost entirely.
Under the hood you’ll find a beefy quad-core 1.5GHz Krait and Adreno 320 GPU alongside 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (11GB of which are user available). There’s also a 2020 mAh battery to power it all, which you’ll need every ounce of, given the amount of pixels the device has to push out.

The display is impressively crisp and the Butterfly can certainly turn a few heads, as HTC has made some great strides in improving what was already a stellar design. We’ve taken a brief video of how the Butterfly stacks up to its DROID DNA counterpart, as well as its HTC One X predecessor.
