Twitter’s Mobile App Now Includes Support For Twitter’s New “App Cards”

Following its announcement yesterday, Twitter has today updated its mobile applications with support for the new Twitter App Cards feature. According to the Twitter app’s page in Apple’s iTunes App Store, version 5.5 of the app brings a number of improvements, including the ability to “help you discover, install and launch your favorite apps from Tweets.” [UPDATE: Twitter has now rolled out the change to Android, too.]
(Oh by the way, we’re capitalizing “Tweets” now. I didn’t know.)
Twitter Cards, which have allowed tweets (sorry, I like it this way) to contain media like photos, videos, articles snippets and more, have now been expanded to introduce users to mobile applications, as of this update. Details of yesterday’s announcement about this change are here.
Going forward, tweets coming from other apps can include a link to their app at the bottom, pointing users to the iTunes App Store to download. Early adopters on the developer side include Delectable, Etsy, Flickr, Foursquare, Gumroad, Jawbone, Path, Rovio’s Angry Birds, SoundCloud, Storenvy, Wine Library, and Twitter’s own Vine application.
This is a major step forward for Twitter that will have on impacts the app economy as a whole, and specifically m-commerce..
Other improvements to the app include:

• Faster launch times and general performance upgrades
• “Retweeted by” in Tweet detail is now tappable
• Fix for reply-to-self in conversations
• Fix for bug that prevented undoing retweets in some cases

Now that Twitter Cards are live on iPhone, Android support should soon follow.

Twitter Unveiling New Card Types, Mobile App Installs And Deep Linking, At Developer Meetup

Well, it looks like the developer meetup over at Twitter is underway, and information is making its way out over Twitter about it. It sounds like the company is unveiling some new Twitter Card types, which are its way of displaying embedded content within tweets, and it’s all about mobile apps.
Tomorrow, the Cards will be released, and the hope is to get deeper linking and engagement into other apps you may have on your phone. This could be for shopping, taking a poll or just about any other interaction you can think of. Other Card types include things like embedded photo galleries, as these tweets show:

Mobile Internet Offers Specific Social Media using packages

The demand and popularity of Mobile Internet in Pakistan isn’t a mystery anymore. Mobile phone users are now more inclined towards mobile internet for various needs ranging from remaining in touch with friends and family to communication needs of business individuals.
For a wider audience – due to limited amount of local content over internet – mobile phone users, especially the youth, use mobile internet merely for accessing social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Keeping this segment in view mobile phone operators are now offering mobile internet packages to be used for specific social media websites only.
With such bundles, customers are allowed to browse social media websites without any data limit at a fixed daily rental, which is usually very nominal.
One such offer was first introduced by Ufone back in September 2012 with which it offered unlimited Twitter usage from mobile phones without any charge. Soon another bundle (called “Social Life” was introduced by Ufone where it offered its customers to enjoy unlimited browsing of Facebook and Twitter at a fixed daily charge of Rs. 4 (including taxes).
Previously Ufone had launched Facebook SMS Integration and Picture Upload feature in March 2010. Later it announced its Facebook Java application for mobile phones with 90 days of free usage 29^th October, 2011 for its customers.
Similarly, Mobilink recently announced its Facebook Bundle, which allows unmetered facebook browsing against a daily charge of Rs. 5 per day.
Previously Mobilink had offered Facebook Zero or Facebook lite to its customers with which they were able to use lighter version of Facebook on their mobile phones for free. With this offer customers were offered with lighter and text-only version of Facebook. Viewing pictures or media file were charged with usual GPRS rates.
Mobile phone operators are consistently innovating new ways to offer their customers with cost-effective deals that make their lives easier and more connected. It seems that Ufone has lead the trend and now other operators are also getting into the play. It is likely that more operators will offer mobile internet deals for social media websites.
