Ever since Nokia jumped on the Windows Phone bandwagon it’s been fighting a lone war. Where other OEMs like HTC and Samsung have Android to fall back onto, Nokia single handedly relies on Windows Phone to be its bread and butter. Which is why Nokia is constantly trying to innovate and bring new devices running Redmond’s new platform. Today at MWC 2013 Nokia announced Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 to join its Windows Phone 8 lineup.
The Lumia 520 is the lowest end Windows Phone 8 yet by Nokia, and it’s also the cheapest. It comes with a dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and 512MB RAM, 4-inch IPS LCD with WVGA resolution. It comes packing in the entire range of exclusive Nokia services such as Music, City Lens, Drive etc. It will come with five color options; cyan, yellow, red, black and white. Like the Lumia 620, users will be able to change the cover later on if they wish to. Powered by a 1430mAh battery the Lumia 520 will launch initially in China for just $180 and will later on make its way into Europe, the rest of Asia and T-Mobile in the US.
Next in the lineup is the Lumia 720 and as the name suggests, it’s a slightly higher end model than 520 and 620. With Lumia 720 the focus is all on style. This is the thinnest Lumia phone out there at the moment, measuring just 9mm in thickness. It doesn’t skimp on specs either with its large 4.3-inch ClearBlack display with WVGA resolution. It comes with the same dual-core 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and 512MB RAM as it’s younger sibling. The battery however has be enlarged to 2000mAh. Once again Nokia focuses on imaging with a 6.7MP Carl Zeiss shooter on the back. For those keeping count, it’s a f/1.9 lens. The Nokia Lumia 720 comes in five colors, with an  price of EUR 249 before taxes and subsidies. Rollout is planned to start in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore in Q1 2013 and China, Europe, Asia, Africa and India in Q2 2013.
